The state government has issued a list confirming that schools, banks and several public offices will remain shut on February 12 as part of the nationwide Bharat Bandh.
Tamil Nadu’s administration confirmed that the nationwide Bharat Bandh scheduled for February 12 will see the closure of most schools, banks and a range of government offices across the state. The announcement, released on Goodreturns, provides a detailed roster of institutions that will not operate on the protest day.
All public and private schools, from primary to higher secondary, are slated to remain closed, as are branches of major banks and cooperative credit societies. State-run offices, including revenue, transport and municipal departments, are also expected to shut down for the duration of the bandh.
Essential services such as hospitals, police stations, fire brigades and emergency medical facilities will continue to function, and the government has urged citizens to plan travel and financial transactions accordingly. Public transport, including state-run buses and trains, may run on a limited schedule, with commuters advised to check local timetables.
Authorities have asked residents to avoid non‑essential travel and to cooperate with law‑enforcement agencies to ensure peace and order during the protest. The list of open and closed entities is available on the official state portal for public reference.
