A GRP Assistant Sub‑Inspector in Amritsar was attacked, and the group Tahrik‑e‑Taliban Hindustan said it was carried out under Operation Noor.

Amritsar police reported that an Assistant Sub‑Inspector of the Gujarat Rifles Police, identified as Sukchain Singh, was the target of a violent assault in the city. The incident was reported shortly after the officer was on duty, and local law‑enforcement agencies responded to the scene.

The militant outfit calling itself Tahrik‑e‑Taliban Hindustan subsequently released a statement claiming responsibility. In the statement the group said the attack was executed as part of its declared "Operation Noor" and that the ASI was specifically selected as a target.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the assault, seeking to identify the perpetrators and assess any broader security implications. The claim by the group underscores ongoing concerns about extremist activity in the region.
