South Western Railway has announced that the overhaul of Curchorem station in Goa will be finished by December, aiming to improve facilities and connectivity for local commuters.

South Western Railway (SWR) has set a December deadline for the revamp of Curchorem station in Goa, as announced in a press release. The upgrade will include platform extensions, new waiting shelters, improved signage and better accessibility features. The aim is to reduce congestion and enhance passenger experience on the line. Local officials expect the upgraded station to handle increased traffic during peak travel seasons.

SWR officials said the project will be completed in phases, with the first phase focusing on platform safety and the second on passenger amenities. The railway zone has allocated funds for the work and will monitor progress through regular inspections. The revamp is part of SWR’s broader plan to modernise stations across its network.

Commuters from nearby villages anticipate shorter waiting times and cleaner facilities. The upgraded station will also improve connectivity to the nearby tourist destinations in Goa. SWR has assured that train schedules will remain largely unaffected during construction.
