Punjab reports a rise in swine flu, with Patiala recording 11 cases, while Faridkot and Pathankot also register new infections.

Health officials in Punjab have confirmed a noticeable increase in swine flu infections across the state. As of the latest count, Patiala district alone has reported eleven confirmed cases, prompting heightened surveillance and public health alerts.

In Patiala, the surge includes patients of varying ages, with most receiving treatment at local hospitals. The district health department has urged residents to seek medical attention promptly if they experience fever, cough or respiratory distress.

Faridkot district has documented four cases since August, three of whom have recovered fully while one remains under active treatment. The local health team continues to monitor the patient’s condition and has issued guidance on preventive measures.

Pathankot has added three positive cases since the start of the year. Authorities there are conducting contact tracing and reinforcing awareness campaigns about hygiene and early symptom reporting.

State health officials advise the public to maintain proper hand hygiene, avoid crowded places during peak illness periods, and get vaccinated against influenza as a precautionary step.
