The Supreme Court has dismissed Siddharth’s plea to move the Zubeen case trial to a venue outside Assam, keeping the proceedings within the state.
New Delhi: In a recent order, the Supreme Court turned down a petition filed by Siddharth seeking to relocate the trial of the Zubeen case to a court outside Assam. The bench held that there was no sufficient ground to shift the venue and that the trial should continue in the state where the case originated.
The petition argued that a change of location would ensure a fair trial, but the apex court found the reasons unconvincing. By dismissing the plea, the court affirmed that the existing judicial machinery in Assam is competent to handle the proceedings.
The decision means that all further hearings, evidence collection, and judgments will remain under the jurisdiction of Assam's courts, and no further applications for relocation have been entertained at this stage.
