The Supreme Court has ordered interim bail for N Uday Rao, who is implicated in a Chhattisgarh scam.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to N Uday Rao, a businessman currently under investigation for his alleged role in a large‑scale scam in Chhattisgarh. The court’s order allows Rao to remain out of custody while the investigation proceeds, subject to conditions set by the bench.

The bail decision comes after Rao’s counsel argued that his continued detention would hamper his ability to cooperate with authorities and manage his business affairs. The bench examined the petition and found no compelling reason to keep him in jail at this stage.

The Chhattisgarh scam, which involves alleged financial irregularities and misuse of public funds, has been under scrutiny by both state and central agencies. Rao’s name surfaced in the probe, prompting his arrest earlier this year. The interim bail does not equate to exoneration; the case will continue to be examined by investigative agencies and the courts.

Legal experts note that interim bail is a procedural relief, not a judgment on guilt, and that the final outcome will depend on the evidence presented during the trial.
