The Supreme Court collegium has put forward names for chief justices of the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir‑Ladakh High Courts, pending presidential approval.
The Supreme Court collegium, chaired by the Chief Justice of India, has submitted recommendations for the appointment of chief justices to three high courts: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and the newly formed Jammu & Kashmir‑Ladakh bench. The collegium’s list, which is confidential until officially communicated, is expected to be forwarded to the President for formal approval and subsequent notification.
These recommendations come as part of the regular judicial appointment process, aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of the higher judiciary across the country. The collegium’s role is to evaluate senior judges and propose suitable candidates based on merit, seniority and regional representation.
Once the President acts on the collegium’s advice, the appointed chief justices will assume office after taking the oath administered by the respective state governors. The new appointments are anticipated to fill existing vacancies and strengthen the administrative leadership of the three high courts.
