Supreme Court addresses disruptive protest stalls in Delhi's Connaught Place
The Supreme Court intervened after traders in Connaught Place reported that ongoing protest stalls were hampering their daily business and livelihood.
The Supreme Court has taken note of protests taking place in Connaught Place, Delhi, where makeshift stalls set up by demonstrators are causing inconvenience to local traders.
According to court proceedings, the daily operations and commercial activities of shop owners in the area have been adversely affected by the presence of these protest stalls.
The bench emphasized that while the right to protest is constitutionally protected, it must not infringe upon the rights of others, including the right of traders to conduct their business without undue disruption.
The court warned against the establishment of false or unauthorized protest stalls and indicated that appropriate measures may be taken to ensure a balance between lawful demonstrations and the uninterrupted functioning of commercial spaces.
