Sukma police authorities inaugurated a free sewing training centre aimed at empowering 150 women from police families, offering them skills to generate income.

On a sunny morning in Sukma, the police department launched a free sewing training centre designed to empower women belonging to police families. The facility will accommodate 150 participants, providing them with basic to intermediate sewing skills.

The training programme, which runs for six weeks, covers fabric selection, pattern making, stitching techniques and basic garment design. All materials and equipment are supplied at no cost to the trainees.

Police officials say the initiative aims to enhance self‑reliance among police families, enabling women to earn a supplementary income while balancing their responsibilities at home and at the station.

A senior officer at the launch highlighted the centre as part of a broader effort to support the welfare of police personnel and their families, noting that the skills taught could open up small business opportunities in the local market.
