Farmers in five districts of Karnataka protested against low sugarcane prices, calling a partial bandh that saw mixed compliance across the region.
Farmers cultivating sugarcane in five districts of Karnataka launched protests demanding higher farmgate prices, citing a steep decline in earnings compared to previous seasons.
The agitations escalated into a partial bandh, with some towns observing a complete shutdown of market activities while nearby areas continued normal operations, indicating uneven participation among the farming community.
State officials acknowledged the unrest and said they are monitoring the situation, urging both traders and growers to engage in dialogue to resolve the pricing dispute.
No official figures on the number of participants or the exact districts involved were released, but local reports confirm that the movement has spread beyond the initial hotspot, pressuring authorities to address the farmers' concerns.
