Sudha Sakhis has launched a programme to extend veterinary support directly to rural villages across Bihar, aiming to improve livestock health for farmers.

Sudha Sakhis, a non‑governmental organization focused on rural development, announced a new outreach programme that will place veterinary assistance within easy reach of villages throughout Bihar. The effort is designed to address long‑standing gaps in animal health services, which many small‑scale farmers have struggled to access due to distance and limited infrastructure.

Under the scheme, mobile veterinary units equipped with medicines, diagnostic tools and trained staff will visit designated villages on a regular schedule. Farmers will be able to bring cattle, buffaloes, goats and other livestock for routine check‑ups, vaccinations and treatment of common ailments without traveling to distant towns.

The organization says the initiative will not only reduce livestock mortality but also boost milk production and overall farm income. By strengthening animal health at the grassroots level, Sudha Sakhis hopes to contribute to Bihar’s broader agricultural growth and food security goals.

Local authorities have welcomed the move, noting that improved veterinary care aligns with state policies aimed at modernising the dairy and livestock sectors. The programme is set to commence in the coming weeks, with the first round of village visits slated for early November.
