A recent study by Durham University reveals that women do not consider a deep male voice more attractive.

Durham University researchers have published a study examining how women perceive male vocal pitch. The investigation, highlighted in a Times of India report, aimed to test the common belief that a deeper voice gives men an advantage in attractiveness.

The experiment involved a sample of adult women who listened to recordings of male voices varying in pitch. Participants were asked to rate each voice on perceived attractiveness and confidence without any visual cues.

Results indicated that voice depth did not significantly influence the women's ratings. In fact, the data showed no clear preference for deeper tones over higher-pitched ones, challenging the stereotype that a deep voice is universally appealing.

Lead researchers noted that while vocal pitch may play a role in specific contexts, overall attraction appears to be shaped by a broader set of traits. The findings add nuance to existing social‑psychological literature on gender and communication.
