Students in Pecharthal, Tripura, blocked National Highway 8 to press the state government for the appointment of pending teachers.

Students from local colleges and schools gathered on National Highway 8 at Pecharthal in Tripura, setting up a roadblock to demand that the state government fill vacant teaching posts. The protest began in the early morning, causing traffic disruptions on the busy corridor that connects the state capital with neighboring regions.

According to witnesses, the demonstrators carried placards and chanted slogans urging the education department to expedite the recruitment process. They allege that prolonged vacancies are affecting academic schedules and student learning outcomes.

Local police deployed personnel to manage the traffic and to ensure the safety of both protesters and commuters. Officials from the Tripura Education Department were contacted for comment, but a statement was not immediately available.
