On Thursday, Punjab experienced a sudden shift in weather with strong winds and heavy showers in Faridkot, Rajpura and other districts, bringing a noticeable chill.
A sharp change in weather struck Punjab on Thursday, as strong gusts accompanied by heavy rain swept across several districts. In Faridkot and Rajpura, the downpour was intense enough to cause localized waterlogging, prompting residents to take precautionary measures.
Meteorological officials noted that the wind speeds reached unusually high levels for this time of year, contributing to a rapid drop in temperature across the region. The cooler air has provided relief from the preceding heat wave but has also raised concerns for farmers whose fields are now water‑logged.
Local authorities have issued advisories for commuters to exercise caution on wet roads and for farmers to protect standing crops where possible. The weather department expects the unsettled conditions to ease by the weekend, with a gradual return to normal temperatures.
