A stone‑pelting incident just before Ludhiana station damaged the Delhi‑Amritsar Intercity Express, breaking several windows while none of the passengers were injured. Railway Protection Force is reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
On the approach to Ludhiana railway station, unidentified individuals threw stones at the Delhi‑Amritsar Intercity Express as it was gaining speed. The assault resulted in three glass windows being shattered, but the train remained on track.
Despite the damage, no passenger suffered any injury. The crew briefly slowed the train, inspected the affected coaches and then resumed the journey after confirming safety.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has retrieved CCTV recordings from the line and is analysing the footage to pinpoint those responsible. Investigators have also appealed to the public for any information that could aid the probe.
Authorities warned commuters to stay alert and report any suspicious activity near railway premises to prevent similar incidents in the future.
