A truck carrying stone chips broke through a police barrier during a checkpoint inspection in Munger, attempted to run over officers, fled for about 10 km and was later apprehended.

On Friday night, police in Munger, Bihar, set up a routine vehicle inspection checkpoint. During the operation, a heavy truck loaded with stone chips ignored the officers' signal to stop, smashed through a concrete barrier and drove forward, endangering the constables positioned at the site.
The driver is alleged to have attempted to run over the police personnel before accelerating away. Witnesses say the truck sped off, covering roughly ten kilometres before law‑enforcement units from the district headquarters joined the pursuit.
After a coordinated chase involving multiple police vehicles, the truck was intercepted on a nearby highway and the driver was taken into custody. No injuries were reported among the officers, and the vehicle and its cargo have been seized for further investigation.
The incident is being treated as a serious criminal offence, with charges likely to include reckless endangerment and assault on public servants. Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the motive behind the driver’s actions and to assess any lapses in checkpoint security.
The seized stone‑chip load will be examined for compliance with transport regulations, and the case will be forwarded to the district court for prosecution.
