The Special Task Force in Madhya Pradesh has taken into custody another individual from Muraina, adding to a total of 15 suspects arrested across three states for illegal tiger hunting and the trafficking of tiger parts.
The Special Task Force (STF) of Madhya Pradesh announced the arrest of an additional suspect from the town of Muraina on charges of hunting tigers and smuggling their body parts. The detainee was apprehended during a coordinated operation that targeted a network involved in wildlife crime.
According to the STF, the latest arrest brings the cumulative tally of individuals detained in this investigation to 15, spanning three different states. Law enforcement agencies have been tracking the syndicate for several months, linking it to multiple incidents of illegal tiger killing.
Investigators have so far documented ten separate cases of tiger poaching linked to the group, and they continue to gather evidence on the illegal trade of tiger organs, which is a violation of both national wildlife protection laws and international conventions.
