SSB’s 56th unit arrested 29‑year‑old Nepali national Zuber Alam at the Jogbani border, seizing ₹5 lakh in cash.
Security personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) 56th battalion intercepted a Nepali citizen at the India‑Nepal border town of Jogbani in Bihar. The 29‑year‑old, identified as Zuber Alam, was found carrying Indian currency worth five lakh rupees.
According to the arrest report, the cash was believed to be part of a hawala transaction, a form of informal money transfer that bypasses official banking channels. The suspect was detained before he could deliver the money to a local shop.
The SSB officers seized the entire amount and handed the case over to the local police for further investigation. No injuries were reported, and the operation concluded without incident.
Authorities have not disclosed whether additional individuals are being investigated in connection with the alleged hawala network.
