The Inter‑Frontier Dog Competition 2026, organised by the SSB Dog Training and Breeding Centre, wrapped up in Alwar, Rajasthan. Units from across the armed forces took part, showcasing their canine squads in a series of operational tests.
The host Alwar team emerged as the overall champion, edging out other contingents in the final tally. In the specialised explosives‑detection event, the team from Patna secured first place, while the Ranikhhet unit topped the narcotics‑detection category.
Officials said the competition is designed to evaluate the readiness of canine units, promote best‑practice training, and foster inter‑unit cooperation. The winning dogs and handlers will receive medals and are slated for deployment in upcoming border‑security missions.
The SSB has indicated that similar dog‑sport events will be organised annually to maintain high standards of canine performance for defence and internal security roles.
