Sri Lanka's New Test Captain Kusal Mendis Voices Confidence in Batting Ahead of Pakistan Series

Kusal Mendis has taken over as Sri Lanka's Test captain and immediately addressed the media, asserting that the country's batting order is well‑balanced and capable of posting competitive totals. He highlighted the depth of experience among the senior players and the emerging talent of younger batsmen, suggesting that the combination provides both stability and aggression.

The statement comes as Sri Lanka gears up for a Test series against Pakistan, a fixture that will test the team's resilience after a mixed run of results in recent international outings. Mendis noted that the side has been working intensively in the net, focusing on technique and situational awareness to handle the challenges posed by Pakistan's bowling attack.

While refraining from naming specific scores, the new captain emphasized that the batting unit has shown consistency in recent practice matches, with several players registering half‑centuries. He urged the squad to maintain this momentum and translate practice performances into match success.

Mendis concluded by urging fans to stay supportive, assuring that the team is committed to delivering a competitive performance and restoring confidence in Sri Lankan Test cricket.
