Sri Lanka Cricket seeks additional Test series with India, England and Australia

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has publicly called on the cricket boards of India, England and Australia to increase the number of Test matches they play against the island side. The board’s statement, reported by Rediff, underscores a desire to expand the traditional three‑day format in the team’s calendar.
SLC officials argue that more frequent Test encounters with top‑ranked nations will sharpen player skills, improve rankings and generate greater revenue through broadcasting and ticket sales. They note that the current Test schedule offers limited exposure compared with the longer formats enjoyed by their counterparts.
The push comes as Sri Lanka seeks to rebuild its standing in international cricket after a period of mixed results. By securing additional series with India, England and Australia, the board hopes to provide its players with consistent high‑level competition and to re‑energise fans across the country.
