Indian Railways will operate special festival trains between Khajuraho-Udaipur from 8 Oct to 20 Nov, making 13 trips, to manage the surge in holiday travelers.
The Ministry of Railways announced the introduction of special festival trains on two popular Rajasthan corridors to cope with the expected increase in passenger traffic during the holiday season. The Khajuraho‑Udaipur special service will commence on 8 October and run on selected days until 20 November, completing a total of thirteen round trips.
In addition to the Khajuraho‑Udaipur link, a similar special train will operate between Jodhpur and Mau, aimed at providing extra capacity for pilgrims and tourists traveling to regional fairs and religious sites. Both services are scheduled to run on a non‑daily basis, with timings coordinated to match peak travel periods.
Railway officials said the additional trains will use existing rolling stock and will be staffed by regular crew members, ensuring seamless integration with the regular timetable. Passengers are advised to book tickets in advance through the IRCTC portal or at reservation counters, as seats are expected to fill quickly.
The move reflects the railways’ broader strategy to augment connectivity during festivals, reducing overcrowding on regular services and improving overall travel experience for the public.
