On the Navami of Shravana Shukla Paksha, Baba Mahakal was specially decorated with the name of Ram and traditional ornaments during the Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple, Ujjain.
Ujjain's historic Mahakaleshwar Temple observed a unique ritual on the Navami of Shravana Shukla Paksha, when devotees performed the Bhasma Aarti for Baba Mahakal. During the ceremony, the deity was adorned with the sacred name of Ram, along with traditional items such as bel leaves, a trishul, a trident, a triple‑eyed motif, a silver crown and a garland of munda beads. The elaborate decoration highlighted the temple's blend of Shaivite and Vaishnavite symbolism, drawing a large gathering of worshippers. Temple priests explained that the inclusion of the Ram name reflects a spirit of unity among different Hindu traditions. The event concluded with the chanting of "Jai Shri Mahakal" resonating through the sanctum, reinforcing the devotional fervor of the attendees.
