South Tripura becomes first district in Tripura to fully implement IHMIS

South Tripura district has completed the full rollout of the Integrated Health Management Information System, marking the first such implementation in Tripura.
The South Tripura district administration announced that it has achieved 100% coverage of the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS) across all its public health facilities. The rollout, which began earlier this year, involved installing the software, training staff and linking data from primary health centres, sub‑centres and district hospitals.
State health officials hailed the completion as a milestone for Tripura’s digital health agenda, noting that real‑time data on patient visits, disease trends and resource utilisation will now be available to policymakers. The system is expected to improve monitoring of health programmes and enable quicker response to outbreaks.
The district’s health officer, who oversaw the implementation, said the transition was smooth thanks to coordinated efforts between the state e‑health department and local health workers. The success is being used as a model for other districts in the state, which are slated to begin phased IHMIS adoption in the coming months.
With the data now centralized, the South Tripura health administration aims to enhance service delivery, reduce reporting delays and support evidence‑based decision making at the state level.
