The accident occurred on the Madurai–Tiruchirappalli highway, close to the village of Kallur, according to the Madurai Police. The bus was carrying commuters traveling from Madurai to Tiruchirappalli.
Emergency services reached the scene within minutes, but the victims could not be revived. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and have urged drivers to exercise caution on the busy highway.
