Two sisters have cleared roughly 80,000 kilograms of plastic waste from rivers, lakes and waterfalls across Jharkhand, highlighting grassroots environmental action.
Two local women have taken on a massive clean‑up drive in Jharkhand, pulling together about 80,000 kg of plastic debris from the state’s rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Their effort underscores how individual initiative can address the growing problem of water‑borne waste.
The sisters organized a series of on‑ground collection activities, mobilising volunteers and using simple tools such as bags and nets to gather discarded plastic. Over several weeks they moved along multiple water bodies, systematically removing litter that had accumulated over time.
Environmental groups have praised the achievement as a tangible step toward restoring aquatic ecosystems in the region. The sisters hope their work will inspire similar community‑led actions and encourage authorities to strengthen waste‑management measures in Jharkhand’s waterways.
