The missing businessman from Sirsa and his daughter were found dead in a canal in Rajasthan, police said.
Sirsa-based businessman Ashok Kumar and his 10-year-old daughter were reported missing on Monday, prompting a joint search by Haryana and Rajasthan police. After several days of intensive efforts, officials recovered their bodies from a shallow stretch of a canal near the Rajasthan-Haryana border on Thursday.
The canal, located in the arid region of Rajasthan's Jodhpur district, was cordoned off as investigators examined the site for clues. Preliminary forensic reports indicate that both victims drowned, though the exact circumstances leading to the incident remain under investigation.
Police spokesperson Rajesh Sharma said the case is being treated as a possible homicide and that interrogations of nearby residents and transport workers are underway. The authorities have also informed the families and are coordinating with local hospitals for autopsy results, which will be released once completed.
