Landslides in the villages of Singlitam and Rimbi in Sikkim’s Gyalshing district triggered an alert, forcing authorities to evacuate 128 residents.

Earlier today, heavy rainfall triggered landslides in the villages of Singlitam and Rimbi, located in the Gyalshing district of Sikkim. The sudden ground movement caused significant damage to local homes and blocked several access roads.

In response, the district administration issued an alert and dispatched rescue teams to the affected areas. A total of 128 residents were evacuated to safer locations, and temporary shelters were set up to accommodate those displaced.

Roads leading to and from the villages were closed to prevent further accidents, and local police coordinated with the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority to monitor the situation. Authorities advised residents in surrounding areas to remain vigilant and follow official instructions.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of Sikkim’s hilly terrain to extreme weather events, and officials are reviewing early warning systems to improve future response times.
