Sikkim University secures NITI Aayog, FICCI backing for incubation centre at Yangang campus

Sikkim University announced that it has secured collaborative support from NITI Aayog and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) to establish an incubation centre on its Yangang campus. The partnership aims to provide start‑ups and innovators from the state and the wider Northeastern region with access to mentorship, funding avenues, and state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure.

The incubation centre will be equipped with co‑working spaces, prototype labs, and networking platforms, leveraging NITI Aayog's policy expertise and FICCI's industry connections. University officials said the initiative aligns with the central government's push to foster entrepreneurship in hill states and to bridge the gap between academic research and marketable products.

The project is expected to launch later this year, creating opportunities for local youth and attracting venture capital interest. Stakeholders anticipate that the centre will boost job creation, stimulate regional economic growth, and position Sikkim as an emerging hub for innovation.
