The Sikkim state administration has launched a dedicated telephone helpline to assist victims of recent floods in Nepal, offering information and coordination support.
Gangtok, Aug 28 (Northeast Today) – The government of Sikkim announced the activation of a toll‑free helpline aimed at Nepalese flood victims. The service, operational 24 hours a day, will field calls from those affected by the recent monsoon‑triggered floods across Nepal's eastern districts, providing real‑time updates on relief measures, shelter locations and medical assistance.
State officials said the helpline is part of a broader cross‑border humanitarian response coordinated with the Nepalese authorities. It will be staffed by bilingual operators fluent in Nepali, Hindi and English to ensure clear communication.
The initiative reflects Sikkim's long‑standing cultural and economic ties with its neighbor and underscores the state's commitment to regional disaster relief.
