Sikkim CM Unveils Hospital Upgrades and Ropeway Project for Hill Regions

The Chief Minister of Sikkim announced a package of development initiatives that include modernising hill‑area hospitals and launching a ropeway to improve connectivity.
Gangtok, Sikkim – The Chief Minister of Sikkim disclosed a multi‑pronged development plan aimed at the state’s hill districts. The scheme prioritises the renovation and equipment upgrade of existing hospitals to enhance medical services for residents in remote areas.
A ropeway project was also unveiled, intended to link key hill towns and reduce travel time for locals and tourists alike. Officials said the ropeway will complement existing road networks and support the growth of eco‑tourism in the region.
In addition to health and transport, the announcement covered several ancillary projects such as water supply improvements and school infrastructure upgrades. The initiatives will be funded through the state budget and are slated to commence in the upcoming fiscal year.
The CM emphasized that the integrated approach aims to address long‑standing accessibility challenges while fostering sustainable development across Sikkim's mountainous terrain.
