Sikkim CM Announces Govt Jobs for Families of Taxi Drivers Killed in Road Accidents

Sikkim’s Chief Minister Pawan Chamling announced a new initiative aimed at supporting the families of taxi drivers who have died in road accidents. The scheme will offer government job placements to eligible relatives, providing them with stable employment and a source of income.

Under the programme, the state government will identify suitable positions across various departments and facilitate the recruitment process for the beneficiaries. Eligibility criteria include proof of the deceased driver’s employment and the relationship of the applicant to the victim.

The announcement was made during a press conference in Gangtok, where the CM highlighted the need for a safety net for those who have lost their primary breadwinners. He emphasized that the government would work closely with recruitment agencies to expedite the placement.

Experts say the move could help reduce the economic burden on affected families and encourage safer practices among taxi operators.
