The Security Intelligence Agency has begun searches at nine locations in Jammu & Kashmir in connection with the 1990 murder of Kashmiri Pandit poet Sarwanand Kaul Premi and his son.
The Security Intelligence Agency (SIA) commenced search operations at nine sites across Jammu & Kashmir today, as part of a renewed probe into the 1990 murder of Kashmiri Pandit poet Sarwanand Kaul Premi and his son.
The killings, which occurred over three decades ago, had remained unsolved. The SIA’s move follows a directive from higher authorities to revisit cold cases linked to communal violence in the region.
Investigators are canvassing the selected locations for physical evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing archival records to identify potential suspects or links to the crime.
Family members of the victims have not yet issued a statement, and the agency has said the inquiry is still in its early stages, with no immediate arrests announced.
