Shubman Gill out for 1 on Punjab's Ranji return

Punjab opened the Ranji Trophy season with a match that left fans disappointed as Shubman Gill was dismissed for a single. The 28‑year‑old, who had been left out of the India squad for the New Zealand tour, failed to convert his form from the international stage into domestic success. The innings came in the first innings of Punjab’s game against an unnamed opponent. The low score may affect Punjab’s campaign as they look to build momentum in the tournament.

Punjab’s coach expressed concern over the batting collapse, noting that the team will need to regroup quickly. The match also highlighted the pressure on players returning from international duty to perform in domestic competitions.

The incident underscores the challenges faced by Indian cricketers in balancing international commitments and domestic responsibilities, especially after a high‑profile tour omission.
