International star Shubman Gill made his domestic return in the Ranji Trophy, but was bowled out for just one run for Delhi.
Shubman Gill, the Mumbai-born opening batsman who has been a regular feature in India's Test and limited‑overs sides, stepped back onto the domestic stage this week, representing Delhi in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. His return was eagerly awaited after a spell of international commitments and a brief injury lay‑off.
Gill's innings lasted only a handful of deliveries, as he was dismissed for a solitary run. The early wicket came in the first session, curtailing what many had hoped would be a strong statement of form ahead of the upcoming overseas tour.
The quick dismissal has prompted Delhi's coaching staff to reassess the batting order, while cricket analysts note that Gill will need to translate his international experience into consistent domestic performances to cement his place in the national side.
Despite the setback, teammates expressed confidence that Gill will bounce back, emphasizing his technique and temperament as assets that will serve him well in future matches.
