A neighbourhood in Shillong paid tribute to Prafulla Chandra Ghosh, the first Chief Minister of West Bengal, acknowledging his role as a pioneer for Meghalaya.
A residential locality in Shillong organised a modest ceremony to honour Prafulla Chandra Ghosh, the first Chief Minister of West Bengal after India’s independence. The event, attended by local residents and community leaders, highlighted his historical significance beyond Bengal.
Organisers described Ghosh as a "trailblazer" whose early political vision resonated with the aspirations of the people of Meghalaya. By recognising him, the locality sought to underscore the long‑standing cultural and political links that bind the two neighbouring states.
The tribute reflects a broader effort to revisit shared heritage and celebrate figures who have contributed to the region’s development, reinforcing a sense of unity across state boundaries.
