Following an early end to the monsoon, Bhopal is experiencing a 13‑16°C day‑night temperature gap, leading to a surge in viral fever, cold, cough and gastrointestinal complaints.
Madhya Pradesh has seen the monsoon retreat earlier than usual, leaving a pronounced temperature swing of 13 to 16 degrees Celsius between daytime highs and nighttime lows. Health centres in Bhopal report a noticeable uptick in patients presenting with viral infections, fever, cold, cough, as well as vomiting and diarrhoea. The abrupt change in climate is also aggravating individuals with seasonal allergies, who are seeking medical relief for heightened symptoms. Local doctors attribute the rise in cases to the body's difficulty in adjusting to rapid temperature fluctuations, which can weaken immunity and trigger gastrointestinal distress. Health officials advise residents to stay hydrated, avoid sudden exposure to cold air after being outdoors, and consult physicians promptly if symptoms persist.
