Severe Floods Ravage Nepal, Triggering Cascading Hazards

Heavy monsoon rains have swamped large parts of Nepal, turning rivers into torrents and inundating towns and villages. The sudden rise in water levels has overwhelmed local drainage systems and forced residents to evacuate low‑lying areas.

The flooding has set off a chain of secondary hazards, including landslides on steep slopes, road blockages, and damage to bridges and power lines. These cascading effects are complicating rescue efforts and disrupting essential services.
