Heavy monsoon rains have triggered widespread flooding across Nepal, forcing thousands to evacuate and prompting urgent relief efforts.
Heavy monsoon rains have swollen Nepal's major rivers, causing water to breach embankments and inundate villages in several districts. Local authorities report that roads have been cut off, power supplies disrupted, and many homes submerged as the floodwaters continue to rise.
The Nepalese government has activated emergency response teams, deploying the army and police to assist in evacuations and to set up temporary shelters for displaced families. Relief agencies are distributing food, clean water and medical kits, while health officials warn of potential disease outbreaks in the crowded camps.
International partners, including the United Nations and neighboring India, have pledged assistance, sending rescue equipment and relief supplies. The government has appealed for additional support to address the growing humanitarian needs as the flood crisis deepens.
