Punjab police have detained seven suspects in Amritsar for allegedly facilitating the illegal transfer of firearms and heroin from Pakistan.
Police in Amritsar announced the arrest of seven individuals suspected of involvement in a cross‑border smuggling network that moved firearms and heroin from Pakistan. The suspects were taken into custody as part of a coordinated operation by local law‑enforcement agencies.
Investigators say the arrested persons are alleged to have acted as intermediaries, arranging the receipt and distribution of illegal weapons and narcotics destined for the Indian market. The operation is said to have targeted both the supply chain and the end‑users of the contraband.
The case is being handed over to the crime branch for further inquiry, and formal charges are expected to be filed after the completion of forensic and financial analysis. Authorities have not disclosed additional details pending the investigation.
