Seva Sankalp Utsav Showcases Traditional Sports and Indigenous Culture in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh hosted the Seva Sankalp Utsav, a cultural‑sporting festival aimed at reviving and promoting the region’s indigenous games and traditions. Organisers invited local athletes, artisans and cultural groups to demonstrate activities ranging from archery and indigenous wrestling to folk dances and craft exhibitions.

The program featured live demonstrations of traditional sports such as ‘Thang-Ta’ martial art and ‘Dhopkhel’, alongside storytelling sessions that narrated tribal legends. Spectators from nearby villages and towns attended, creating a vibrant atmosphere that underscored community pride.

Officials highlighted the festival’s role in preserving intangible heritage and encouraging youth participation in age‑old games that are at risk of fading. By providing a platform for cultural exchange, the event also aimed to attract attention from tourism and heritage bodies.

The Seva Sankalp Utsav concluded with a collective cultural performance, reinforcing the message that traditional sports and indigenous culture remain integral to Arunachal Pradesh’s identity.
