Rajasthan's Special Operations Group detained three senior officials of a Sehore private university, including its vice-chancellor, after a fake-degree scheme was uncovered in the PTI teacher recruitment.
The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has taken into custody three senior officials of a private university in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, among them the vice‑chancellor, following the exposure of a fake‑degree network linked to the state's PTI (Physical Teacher) recruitment drive.
The probe was triggered when discrepancies were detected in the academic credentials of candidates who had cleared the PTI examination. Preliminary checks revealed that a number of aspirants had submitted forged certificates to meet the eligibility criteria.
In the wake of the arrests, the SOG has placed the qualifications of 66 other candidates who sat for the exam under investigation, pending verification of their documents.
Authorities said the case will be pursued under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code covering forgery, cheating and fraud, and that further legal action will be taken against anyone found complicit.
