The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) observed its 15th foundation day in New Delhi, highlighting its role in expanding the country’s solar capacity.
SECI held a ceremony in New Delhi to mark its 15th foundation day, bringing together senior officials from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and representatives of the solar industry. The event showcased the corporation’s progress since its inception in 2008, emphasizing its contribution to the nation’s renewable‑energy roadmap.
Since its launch, SECI has been the central agency for implementing solar power projects, handling procurement, financing and development of large‑scale solar parks and rooftop installations. The organization’s interventions have helped lower solar tariffs and attract private investment, aligning with India’s target of achieving 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022 and beyond.
During the celebration, SECI reiterated its commitment to accelerate solar deployment, focusing on emerging technologies such as floating solar and hybrid renewable systems. The corporation also signaled plans to streamline project approvals and expand financing mechanisms to meet the government’s ambitious clean‑energy goals.
