Heavy rainfall from Cyclone Arnab forced education authorities in several districts of Andhra Pradesh and one district of Telangana to declare a holiday for schools.

District education officials in Andhra Pradesh announced that schools in multiple districts will remain closed today as Cyclone Arnab continues to bring heavy rain and flooding. The decision, taken to safeguard students and staff, applies to all government and many private schools in the affected areas.

In Telangana, a neighboring district also issued a similar holiday after local authorities reported waterlogging on school premises and unsafe travel conditions. Both state education departments have urged parents to keep children at home until the weather improves.

The closures are expected to be temporary, with officials monitoring the situation and planning to resume classes once roads and school facilities are cleared. The cyclone, which entered the Bay of Bengal earlier this week, has already caused widespread disruption across the region.

Parents have been advised to stay updated through official channels and to avoid unnecessary travel during the ongoing downpour. Emergency services remain on standby to assist any areas that experience severe flooding.

The education departments will issue further notices regarding the resumption of classes as soon as the meteorological forecasts indicate a reduction in rainfall.
