Police officials in the Malarna Dungar locality of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, detained a man identified as Sajid Khan, also known as ‘Toota’, on suspicion of mobile theft and financial fraud. The arrest followed a focused investigation into a series of complaints about stolen smartphones being used for illicit transactions.
During the operation, officers recovered thirty‑seven Android mobile phones that had been reported missing in the region. All devices were seized as evidence and are being examined for forensic data.
Investigators say the suspect exploited the stolen phones to change the personal identification numbers (PINs) of popular digital payment applications, enabling him to withdraw cash from victims’ accounts without authorization.
A senior police spokesperson confirmed that the case is being forwarded to the cyber‑crime unit for further analysis, and that additional arrests may follow as the probe expands.
