Sachin Pilot says Punjab’s drugs‑gun nexus at record high

Punjab's law‑enforcement agencies have reported a noticeable rise in the intertwining of drug trafficking and illegal firearms, prompting senior Congress figure Sachin Pilot to label the situation as the worst ever recorded. In a recent statement, Pilot highlighted that the growing synergy between narcotics dealers and gun smugglers is fueling violence and undermining public safety across the state. He urged the state government to intensify coordinated actions, strengthen border checks, and expedite judicial processes to curb the menace. The call comes amid broader concerns about Punjab's escalating drug problem and its impact on youth and communities. Authorities have pledged to step up surveillance and crack down on illegal arms, but concrete outcomes remain to be seen.
