A recent report highlights that while India's population is living longer, rural senior women are struggling to maintain good health, marking the biggest challenge for this demographic.

A new analysis released by health researchers points to a widening disparity between increased life expectancy and the quality of health among senior women in India's villages. While the average age of the population has risen, many elderly women in rural areas continue to face chronic ailments, limited mobility, and inadequate medical support.

Experts attribute the gap to a combination of factors, including insufficient healthcare infrastructure in remote regions, lower income levels that restrict access to nutritious food, and cultural norms that often deprioritize women's health needs. The lack of regular health screenings and preventive care further exacerbates the situation.

Policy makers are urged to prioritize targeted interventions, such as mobile health clinics, community health worker programs, and subsidies for essential medicines, to ensure that longer lives are also healthier lives for rural senior women.
