The National Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has called the University Grants Commission's 2026 Equality Regulation Circular unbalanced, asserting that the government is currently reviewing the guidelines. The RSS spokesperson also noted that a court has imposed a stay on the rules.
In Indore, the National Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) issued a statement criticizing the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) Equality Regulation Circular released in 2026 as being unbalanced. The RSS spokesperson, Sunil Ambekar, said the guidelines fail to address key equity concerns and could disadvantage certain groups. The organization added that the government is currently reviewing the circular and that a court has already placed a temporary hold on its implementation. The move comes amid growing scrutiny of higher‑education policies aimed at promoting inclusivity and equal opportunity across India’s universities. If the review leads to amendments, the new regulations could reshape admission and faculty hiring practices nationwide.
