The Kulgam district administration launched health and road development works worth Rs 4.70 crore, aiming to boost medical services and connectivity in the region.
Kulgam district officials inaugurated a set of development projects on Monday, allocating a total of Rs 4.70 crore for health and road infrastructure. The ceremony was attended by senior district officers who highlighted the government's commitment to improving basic services in the remote parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The health component of the scheme includes the renovation of existing primary health centres and the establishment of new sub‑centres to expand outpatient care. Funds will also be used to procure essential medical equipment and to strengthen supply chains for medicines in the district.
Parallel to the health upgrades, the road segment focuses on widening and resurfacing rural link roads that connect villages to the district headquarters. The work aims to reduce travel time for residents, especially during the monsoon season when many routes become difficult to navigate.
Authorities expect that the combined investment will enhance overall quality of life, facilitating quicker access to medical treatment and smoother movement of goods and people. The projects are slated for completion within the next 12 months, subject to seasonal constraints.
