Thieves stole jewellery worth about Rs 4 crore from a railway station. A quick photo taken by the victim helped police locate the getaway vehicle and launch a chase.

Police officials reported that a group of armed robbers entered a busy railway station and made away with gold jewellery valued at roughly Rs 4 crore. The victims, shocked by the brazen act, managed to capture a brief photograph of the assailants as they fled the scene.

The image, shared with investigators within minutes, enabled detectives to trace the suspects’ route and identify the vehicle used for the escape. Surveillance footage corroborated the visual clues, leading officers to a parked car a short distance from the station.

A police officer who arrived at the scene pursued the suspects, attempting to intercept the getaway car. While the chase is ongoing, authorities have confirmed that the photo was instrumental in narrowing down the investigation and recovering some of the stolen items.

The Economic Times noted that the rapid response underscores the growing importance of citizen‑generated evidence in tackling organized crime.

Investigations remain active, and police have appealed for any additional information from the public to bring the perpetrators to justice.
